A Missions Prayer
A Missions Prayer
Monday is the day that I focus my prayers on missions and missionaries. My routine is:
· Monday = missions
· Tuesday = tasks (things I need to do, work, goals, etc.)
· Wednesday = workers (pastors, church leaders, gov. leaders, etc.)
· Thursday = thanksgiving (a day to focus on praise and gratitude)
· Friday = family (while I pray for my family every day, this is a more focused time)
· Saturday = sinners (people who need Christ)
· Sunday = saints (other believers who need prayer)
I picked this up years ago from somewhere and I have found it an easy way to organize my prayer life. It is comprehensive and also easy to remember. Since this is Monday (missions day) I thought I would share a prayer for missionaries by Henry Thornton.
Bestow your special blessing on those who are laboring to extend in foreign lands the knowledge of a crucified redeemer. Assist them by your providence and grace, that they may contend successfully against idolatry and superstition. Strengthen them by your Holy Spirit, and, in the midst of all their difficulties and trials, impart unto them the abundance of your consolations. Open the hearts of many to receive your gospel in the love of it. Let every wilderness at length blossom as the rose. Let the light spring up to them who have long sat in darkness, and let the days come when the lion shall lie down with the lamb, when wars shall cease, and the knowledge of the Lord shall cover the earth, as the waters cover the sea.
