A Prayer for Wilderness Days
This morning, we can find help during hard days in a prayer written by George Matheson. While Matheson allegorizes Jesus’ wilderness experience, he makes a solid point. It is the glorious vision of Jesus and the entrance into new life in Christ that makes it possible to endure with joy the hard days and dark nights of this life.
Here is his prayer:
Shine on me, O my God, to make me fit for life’s desert places. Lift me up, that I may have strength to go further down; illuminate me, that you may send me into the night…Not at all times am I worthy of the wilderness; I am only worthy after the splendors of Jorda. Nothing but the Son’s vision can fit me for the Spirit’s burden; only the glory of baptism can support the hunger of the desert.
Amen

It sounds like a paradox, but it is a blessed Scriptural Truth! Thank you for sharing!
