Anxious
Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 11:28
And, apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxiety for all the churches.
The man who wrote those words is the same man who wrote, “Be anxious for nothing…” So, was he being hypocritical? No. It is not hypocritical to state what the standard should be for the Christian life and then confess to falling short of that standard. The context of 2 Corinthians is Paul’s confession of his weakness.
Having said that, there is one benefit to anxiety. At least there can be one benefit to it if we let it drive us to prayer. If anxiety causes us to pray it will have done a good work in our hearts. If we take our anxious thoughts to the Lord, if we leave our burdens with Him, trusting Him to handle our problems, he will exchange our worries for his peace.
That is a good exchange.
