As for You
Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 3:14; 4:5
In both chapter three and chapter, four Paul is warning Timothy about false teachers and phony believers in the church. “Evil people and imposters,” Paul writes, are “deceiving and being deceived.” There are those he says that “will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”
In both instances, he follows with these words, “as for you…” It is not enough to recognize and avoid the errors of false teaching and apostasy. When you see what is wrong it is right to avoid it. But you need to go further. There needs to be an “as for you” that follows that takes you in the right direction.
When you see which direction is the wrong direction, you can’t just stop and stand on the road. You need to figure out the right way to go and head that way.
