Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:7
Love bears all things…
Some translate this into English as “Love always protects.” I think that is a good way to say what is meant. Love’s instinct is to protect the one we love. It doesn’t mean we cover for sinful behavior in a way that is going to result in reinforcing that behavior or cause further harm to others. It does mean we recognize with wisdom when we should help to ease the suffering of others.
Love wants to protect the vulnerable. It wants to care for the suffering. It wants to lift up the fallen. It wants to strengthen the weak. Love simply cares about others and desires the best for them. So, it bears all things for the sake of others.
