Celebrate Jesus
Scripture Reading: Luke 2
Have you ever noticed that some things are both sad and a little funny at the same time? The way some people go about the Christmas holidays strikes me that way. I’ve noticed some people go to great expense to celebrate Christmas. They put up enough lights that their house is visible from mars. They make a mad rush to the mall and fight the crowds to spend a lot of money on gifts for friends, family, and coworkers-workers. But all of that is not the sad/funny part. The sad/funny thing is that they don’t care about the person this day has been created to celebrate.
Don’t you find it a little weird to make a big deal about the birth of Christ when you wouldn’t want him hanging around your house regularly? I mean why go to all that trouble and expense when you can’t take the time to worship Him on a normal Sunday? Why act like you are glad he came when you refuse to receive Him into your heart?
Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas. I just find it funny in a sad kind of way that people whooping it up for Jesus' birth and treating Him with contempt, or ignoring Him the rest of the year. I hope I’m not talking about you!
