Fool Proof Lie Detector
Scripture Reading: Matthew 24:24
For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
Whether you understand this text as already fulfilled or something that is yet to happen, the underlying principles within it hold true. First, being deceived is a danger all people have faced in every age of human history. Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. The devil is doing the same kinds of things he has always done. He is whispering lies into men’s ears to lead them astray, away from God, and toward destruction.
His lies are not obvious to most people. That is what makes them so pernicious. Like Even we listen to the serpent’s hiss and hear only tales of godlike wisdom and knowledge and we conveniently ignore God’s warning of death.
The devil’s deceptions can be detected by knowing the Word of God. Having a solid biblical understanding of truth goes a long way toward having a good lie detector. Knowing the truth is the best way to know when you are being lied to. The Bereans were famously noble because they searched the Scriptures to see if the things Paul was teaching were true.
Nevertheless, there are going to be some lies that are so well-disguised that it will be impossible to distinguish them from the truth. In this age of artificial intelligence, better known by its moniker “AI’” it will become increasingly difficult to know what is real and what is fake. Don’t think for a moment that the devil won’t seek to use this to his advantage. I’m not saying AI is inherently evil. I am saying that, like all things, the devil will use it for evil.
In this text, Jesus says that there is a deception that is so deceptively good at masquerading as truth, that everyone is going to believe it. The only people who will see through the veil of deception will be those who are the elect. In other words, some deception is so deceiving that the only protection against it is to be a child of God. Only those who are in Christ, those who are saved by grace through faith, will know what is being presented to them is a lie.
Wisdom is good. Studying and reading the Bible is vital. Knowledge and discernment are things to be treasured. But the greatest protection a person can have against deception is to be born again through faith in Jesus Christ.
I think a lot of this is already in the works, including the election.
Much needed truth! I heard one of the promoters of AI say that AI will assist in treating disease so that a person will never die!? He also said his generation would be the first to never die. The interviewer then said, “so you will be like a god…”, the response “yes”. Proceed cauously with AI! We know what GOD said, “it is appointed for man to die and then the judgement”.
