Forgotten, Not Forgotten
Scripture Reading: Genesis 41-42; Psalm 16
Genesis 40 ends with a sobering statement: “Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph; he forgot him.” (Genesis 40:23) Two years pass, and Joseph remains in prison—a man seemingly forgotten.
We can often relate, even if we aren’t behind physical bars. Perhaps someone we trusted to open a door for us, advocate on our behalf, or fulfill a promise has let us down. The sting of being overlooked or forgotten is deeply human.
But take heart: being forgotten by people doesn’t mean being forgotten by God. He never fails us. When we feel overlooked, it may be because the timing isn’t right, or because God has something better in store.
Joseph’s release from prison was not random. It wasn’t just his gifting, the cupbearer’s recommendation, or Pharaoh’s favor that secured his freedom. These were merely tools in God’s hands. Joseph’s rise to prominence was orchestrated by God’s perfect timing and sovereign plan.
God never forgot Joseph, and He doesn’t forget you. When others fail to remember, God sees, knows, and works on your behalf. Trust His timing—it’s always perfect.
