Given Over

Psalm 81:11-13

Getting what we want from God isn’t always a good thing. When God’s people turn a deaf ear to God’s word, God eventually responds by giving them over to their deafness. He will allow us to follow our own evil counsel if we insist.

Paul, recognizing this reality, repeatedly writes in the early pages of Romans “God gave them over…” God’s judgments often come in the form of giving us exactly what we are pining for.
