Good Protection

Scripture Reading: Proverbs 2:6-15

              The world is a dangerous place. Foolish living only makes it even more so. But we need not be fools. The book of Proverbs tells us wisdom is like a woman who has prepared a feast and invited us all to come and sit at her table. Wisdom is a gift from God. “The Lord gives wisdom,” (2:6). It is a grace gift, unmerited and unearned, but bestowed freely and lavishly upon us.

              Wisdom does more for us than increase our understanding and knowledge. It has protective value in this dangerous world. It is a shield (2:7). It guards us (2:8a), and watches over us (2:8b). Wisdom delivers us from evil (2:12). It protects us against those whose wicked ways would bring disaster down on our heads (2:12-15).

              Get wisdom and you will have a powerful ally in a dangerous world.
