Half-Hearted Obedience

Scripture Reading: 2 Chronicles 25

What is said about Amaziah could be said about a lot of people. “He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, yet not with a whole heart,” (2 Chronicles 25:2). I think we could say he was a “good church-going guy.” He did some good things, but he never got carried away. He was religious, but not fanatic about it. He obeyed God but wasn’t over the top. He showed up but wasn’t passionate.

I guess we take what we can get from people sometimes. But God doesn’t ask for half-hearted love. He asks for a love that is with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Let’s pray for ourselves and one another to that end.
