His Steadfast Love
I’m not a huge fan of songs with repetitive lyrics. Some people call them “7-11” songs because you sing seven words eleven times. I wouldn’t be fair about it though, if I didn’t acknowledge the fact the Bible has some of these types of songs in it. Psalm 136 is an example.
The line, “For his steadfast love endures forever,” is repeated 26 times, once in each verse of the Psalm.
The point of this song is that in whatever we experience, and in whatever is going on in the world, God’s love is a constant. It never wavers or changes.
It may not always feel like it or look like it, but God’s love is steadfast.
This is true because God is love. He loves because He, in His very essence, is love.
