Jesus Doeth All Things Well
Scripture Reading: Mark 7:37
“They were astonished beyond measure, saying, ‘He has done all things well.’”
This declaration follows one of Jesus’ many miracles, where He healed a man who was deaf and had a speech impediment. The crowd marveled not only at His power to heal but also at how He did it—with compassion, precision, and authority. Their astonishment overflowed into praise: “He has done all things well.”
The Greek word for “well” in this verse conveys meanings like “beautiful,” “good,” and “right.” It’s not a casual compliment but an acknowledgment of the excellence and perfection in all Jesus does. The word “all” further highlights the comprehensiveness of His goodness—there is nothing He does that falls short.
This truth is echoed in Fanny Crosby’s hymn All the Way My Savior Leads Me, where she declares:
“For I know whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well.”
Her words remind us that even when life’s circumstances are unclear or difficult, we can trust in the perfect work of our Savior.
Like the crowd in Mark 7, we can marvel at the excellence of Jesus—not only in His works of healing but in every aspect of His life, ministry, and ongoing care for His people. Even when we don’t immediately see the purpose behind what He allows in our lives, we can rest in the confidence that He is doing all things well.
When you face trials or uncertainties, hold onto this truth: Jesus does all things well. Trust Him, even when you don’t understand, for His ways are always perfect and good.
