Love on Two Dimensions
FEB love series
Scripture Reading: Matthew 22:34-40
Here is an illustration of the way to think about Jesus command to love God and our neighbor. The two are distinct but inseparable. Draw a capital letter “L.” Most likely you will begin with the vertical stroke of the letter. That represents our relationship to God. You probably followed that with the horizontal stroke. That represents our relationship to our fellowman.
Both strokes are necessary to complete the letter. Both are connected and to together. We begin with the vertical but we don’t stop there. We move on to the horizontal to finish out what we are writing.
That’s the way we should think about love.
