Ministry Update
Last year we were able to do several Pastor/Leader Training Meetings in India and also Madagascar. I had planned on going back to India at the beginning of 2024 and in March, but for different reasons, those meetings never came together like planned. We accept God’s purposes in that and leave it in His good hands.
Right now, we have confirmed dates to return to Madagascar. I am really pleased with how the ministry opportunities have developed there. A few months ago, we held a Pastor Training on Expository Preaching and had roughly 90 in attendances. The training concluded with nine of the pastors preaching a brief sermon using assigned texts from which they developed an expository sermon during the training time.
I was really impressed with how they grasped the concepts we taught and implemented them in their sermons. It was a great time.
They have requested we teach on systematic theology next fall. That is a massive area of study, so I have narrowed it down to theology proper or the doctrine of God for this trip. We are going to use the classic book, “Knowing God,” by J. I. Packer as a guidebook.
So, I would ask for your prayers related to this in a couple of ways:
Pray for our preparation. I need to develop student notes for translation.
We would like to get “Knowing God” translated into Malagasy as well. I have written to the copyright holder and asked for permission to pursue this, but haven’t gotten a definitive answer yet. Pray for favor in this matter.
Once we get closer to time, we will need to make travel arrangements. There’s not a cheap, easy way to get to Madagascar. Pray for travel costs to be reasonable.
Thanks for praying. Those of you who have a paid subscription are helping with our ministry costs and we appreciate it very much.
Blessings,
Stev
