Our Father
Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:9-15
I knew a man once who when he prayed began, “Father…,” followed by a long pause. One day he explained, “I pause long enough to remind myself to whom I am speaking.” Though I’ve never adopted that pattern, I have tried to remember the principle.
“Prayer” has, for obvious reasons, become one of the top search terms on Google recently. That is a hopeful sign. If you are praying, and I hope you are, and if God is your Father, and I hope he is, remember that and all that it means for you.
If God is not your Father, he adopts. I’m adopted. Through faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, you can be made a forever child of God.
This morning when I prayed, I began, “Father.” And then I remembered he cares, he loves, he guides, he protects, he is there, he provides because he is my father, and I am his son. Now, that’s something worth remembering.
