Our God

Scripture Reading: Psalm 68

Our God is a God of salvation, and to God, the Lord, belong deliverances from death… (68:20)

If my memory serves me correctly, I recall W.A. Criswell, long-time pastor of First Baptist Church of Dallas, once preached a lengthy (several hour) sermon on “The Scarlet Thread of Redemption.” It was, I believe, a New Year's Eve event where he preached through the Bible, giving an overview of it and showing how the theme of redemption was the “thread” that held it all together.

This is the point of Scripture. “Our God is a God of salvation.” He planned it from eternity past. He carried it out in time. He will complete it in the future. And forever we will say and sing, Jesus saves, Jesus saves.
