Our King
who brings us in
Scripture Reading: 2 Samuel 9
David, desiring to show kindness to a descendant of Johnathan, reaches out to Mephibosheth. Mephibosheth was crippled. He had become crippled by a fall. When Saul’s family fled, the nurse that carried him fell and he was permanently injured as a result of the fall. David had Mephibosheth brought before him. Mephibosheth assumed David would do him harm. Instead, David made Mephibosheth as one of his sons. He gave him a seat at the table. He provided for all of his needs.
Mephibosheth and David are a beautiful picture of our relationship with Christ, our King. Just as David made an outcast enemy of the kingdom a son of the king, Jesus makes us sons of the King. Like David, Jesus gives us a place at the family table and makes provisions for us.
Thank God, for our King who seeks us out and brings us into the kingdom.
