Point of no Return
Scripture Reading: 2 Chronicles 36:15-16
“The Lord, the God of their fathers, sent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place. But they kept mocking the messengers of God, despising his words and scoffing at his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, until there was no remedy.”
I can’t say when it happens for any particular person or society, but it can happen. There is a line that can be crossed where someone or a collective group of people are beyond hope of saving.
This may be what the Apostle John meant by what he called “the sin unto death.”
In this passage, Israel is said to have crossed over into the land where there was no longer any remaining way to avoid the wrath of God.
Death, of course, would be an excellent example of this. Once you die, your eternal fate is sealed. But it isn’t the only way we can cross the line into a land of no return. It can happen during this life before death. Jesus described it as the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.
The way Israel got there, the way anyone can get there, was by mocking God’s word and resisting His grace.
To avoid a similar fate, humbly listen to God’s word and respond in obedient faith

Timely message. The prophet Habakkuk had a similar message, chapter 3:16, after praying for revival, he had to accept the fact that judgement was inevitable, the line was crossed. However 3:18-19, the prophet worshipped and rejoiced in the LORD! Thank you for this much needed message.
