Rescued from the Pit
Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 38:7-13
At some point we will face what seems to be an insurmountable problem. Like Jeremiah in the pit of mud, we will find ourselves in a place from which we cannot escape. We are reminded in this story that God is faithful and often brings us deliverance through the most unexpected sources.
Ebed-melech was an Ethiopian eunuch. He somehow heard what had been done to Jeremiah and the Lord gave him a tender heart toward Jeremiah’s plight and a courageous heart to seek to do something about it. He approached the king to seek a remedy and God gave him favor with the king, who then gave him the help to go and rescue Jeremiah and save his life.
When we find ourselves trapped in life’s pits, we can know that God has not forgotten us. He may even deliver us in ways we could have never dreamed.
Have faith.
