Showing Up
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 5:13-14
I did not listen to the voice of my teachers, or incline my ear to my instructors. I am at the brink of ruin in the assembled congregation.
Showing up is essential, but simply showing up isn’t enough. This proverb speaks of a person on the edge of ruin despite being physically present with God’s people. They were there, but they didn’t truly listen. Jesus echoed this in His parable about seeds landing on hard soil—truth falls on closed hearts, never taking root.
It’s a warning: we can sit in church week after week yet remain unchanged. Without a receptive heart, we miss God’s voice. Today, come to worship with purpose. Pray for a heart ready to receive and act on God’s Word. Listen with focus, inviting God to shape you.
When we approach worship intentionally, we invite God’s growth in our lives, avoiding disaster and bearing lasting fruit.
