Sowing with Tears
Scripture Reading: Psalm 126:5
“Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.”
Augustine once wrote, “God had only one Son on earth without sin, but never one without suffering.” Suffering is universal, but the way we approach it changes everything. Psalm 126 doesn’t promise that all pain ends in joy; rather, it speaks to those who sow their tears in faith, trusting that God works all things for good (Romans 8:28).
For the believer, suffering isn’t a mere accident of fate. Instead, like rain nourishing seeds, our tears serve a purpose. In faith, they water the ground of our work, preparing it for a harvest of joy. We may not rejoice because of our pain, but we rejoice in knowing that God will bring forth something beautiful and fruitful from it. Every tear has meaning in His hands. Our days of weeping lead to His joy-filled harvest.
