Stay Humble
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 3:7
Self-awareness can be a good thing. Socrates said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” Animals don’t contemplate the meaning of life or their motives for their actions. They don’t contemplate the existence of God and feel wonder or worship. We are not animals. We are not meant to go through life without thinking about life. We should examine ourselves and what we are doing with our brief time here. We should evaluate what kind of person we are and what kind of person we are becoming.
But wisdom dictates caution. “The heart is deceitful…who can know it?” Therefore, “Be not wise in your own eyes,” (Proverbs 3:7). And “let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall,” (1 Corinthians 10:12). Thank God for every step toward Christ you have taken. Be glad if you are maturing in your faith and as a person. Just don’t allow yourself to believe you have “arrived.” Stay humble.
