Surprising Allies
and effective
Scripture Reading: Ezra Chapter One
Rarely does an enemy become an ally. Thanks be to God when it happens. When a Saul, who was on a rampage to destroy Christ’s church becomes its leading apologist and evangelist, it is a marvelous thing.
Ezra begins his book by explaining how it came to be that a captive people were set free to return to their homeland. Not only were they set free, they were given the financial backing to launch the audacious project of rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem.
This was a surprisingly wonderful turn of events, something no one could have planned or anticipated.
Things once destroyed and lying in rubble piles on the ground, can be rebuilt by alliances when enemies become allies. And enemies become allies when God moves when men’s spirits are “stirred up” by the Lord.
