That's Good
Scripture Reading: Psalm 143:10
Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.
“Good” is a subjective word in our culture. Like the word “love” it can be bent to mean just the opposite of what it should. How do we get at what is truly good? We might be a part of the chorus of humanity that says, “Who can show us any good?” (Psalm 4:6).
A fundamental principle we can apply to this and many such questions is that we can look to the nature and character of God. If you want to know what is just, right, holy, loving, etc. look at God’s attributes and let them define these things for you. In this instance, let God define what good is.
David here calls the Spirit of God the good Spirit. I like that.
In the context of this verse, David is talking about the will of God and he is saying that God’s will is good because God Himself is good. It reminds me of what Paul wrote in Romans 12:2:
Discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Both David and Paul are saying that God’s will is good because God is good. Whatever God’s will is for you today, you can say, “That’s good.” You can say it because God is good. His will is going to conform to His character and nature.
Do His will. Experience good.

Much appreciation for the good word about our Good GOD!!
