The End (kind of)
We finished the pastor’s training today. Derrick taught on God’s wrath and guidance in two sessions and I taught on applying the truths of God’s attributes to our troubles.
After lunch, Mark, Derrick, Neil (another missionary here in Madagascar) and I sat down to take questions from the participants. They’ve been asking difficult and insightful questions all week. I until today we limited it to questions related to the teaching topics but today was open season.
We had time for five questions. One was related to an earlier session where I was teaching on the Triune nature of God. They were still having a hard time understanding the concept of personhood. I discerned that they were equating personhood with having a physical body.
Later, one pastor told me that my explanation during the question time helped him understand this better.
After an hour of discussions we handed out certificates, took photos, and received nice gifts from the pastors. Derrick and I were given t-shirts while our wives each received a dress, hat, and a woven bag. I think they like them better than us. I can’t blame them.
We have yet to figure out plans for tomorrow. We fly back to the capital later in the evening. Mark and his family will make the drive leaving early in the morning. It’s been rainy and cold so it may limit our opportunities tomorrow.
We shall see.
