The Enduring Seed
30 Days in 1st Peter - day 9
One of the ways we regularly take God’s Word into our lives is through daily Scripture reading. Here in this passage Peter reminds us of the importance of God’s Word to our spiritual journey.
Each Christian has a unique conversion story. The circumstances differ, but one element is always the same. Every believer has been born again through the Word of God.
Peter uses the image of a seed for the Word of God. Perhaps he was remembering Jesus’ parable of the sower. At some point, God’s Word was planted in our hearts like a seed. In time it sprouted and produced the fruit of salvation.
The seed of the Word produces a life that lasts. Human glory is like grass and flowers—beautiful for a moment, but quickly gone. The life produced by the Word of God endures forever.
The value of taking the Word of God into our lives can’t be overstated. Like a seed planted in the ground, its effect in our heart may not be immediate, but it is sure. At just the right time, the seed of the Word will sprout, spring up, and produce fruit.
Be encouraged that your commitment to daily Bible intake is not a ritual meant to satisfy some divine demand. It is one of the ways to ensure a fruitful and flourishing Christian life.

Hallelujah 🙌 praise the Lord.
