Unshakable
Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 2; Psalm 125
“Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.”
— Psalm 125:1
Mount Zion, the physical mountain in Jerusalem, was never meant to be an eternal fixture in itself. Instead, it stands as a symbol of something far greater—the unshakable presence and reign of God among His people.
This deeper meaning is made clear in passages like Hebrews 12:22:
“But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem…”
And again in Revelation 14:1:
“Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb…”
In other words, Mount Zion represents God’s eternal kingdom, rooted in His presence, ruled by His Son, and filled with His people. The psalmist isn’t making a geographical or geological claim. He’s proclaiming a spiritual reality: God’s kingdom cannot be moved—it abides forever.
And here is the encouragement:
Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion.
Their stability doesn’t come from within, but from the One in whom they trust. By grace, we are drawn into God’s kingdom through faith in Jesus Christ. And like the kingdom we now belong to, we are made secure, steady, and enduring—not by our own strength, but by His.
We become like the kingdom we enter when we trust in the King.
