Until Then
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 2:2-5
The hopeful promises of the first paragraph of Isaiah chapter two shine like a lighthouse, beckoning to us, guiding us toward home as we navigate through the destructive shoals, and fight the battering whitecapped waves of this worldly existence. There the Lord’s peace reigns. The military-industrial complex is unnecessary. So, it is dismantled and transformed into mechanisms of prosperity and production of that which produces life, not death.
We see that Day on the horizon, its light breaking through the storm clouds that hover over our heads today. It is. It is not yet.
Isaiah saw that Day approaching from a distance as well. And what are we to do while we wait for its full arrival? To this Isaiah turns in verse five:
O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD.
William Wilberforce prayed for God to fill him “with all joy and peace in believing,” so that he would “here begin the song of praise, to be sung with more purified and warmed affections in heaven.”
Walk in the Light of today in anticipation of dancing in the Light of tomorrow.

Thanks, Steve, for the encouragement!
