Unto Us
“Unto us,” is the way the NKJV translates it. The Hebrew emphasizes the coming of this Son, and not on the “unto us.” But that doesn’t mean the “unto us” is irrelevant or should be ignored or go unnoticed. The text, as a whole, seeks to turn our eyes toward Christ and gaze upon His glory, but it doesn’t ignore the fact that this has practical and eternal implications for us.
Christ came, this is true and amazing. And while His coming was and is for His glory, it is and was also for our salvation. The two are not mutually exclusive. His glory is seen in His work of saving.
He came. He was born for us. He was given for us.
Praise the Lord.
