Walking in Darkness
part two
“Look, all you who kindle a fire, who encircle yourselves with sparks: Walk in the light of your fire and in the sparks you have kindled - This you shall have from My hand: you shall lie down in torment.” -Isaiah 50:11-
Last week I shared with you that Isaiah 50:10 teaches us that sometimes the obedient, God fearing person will find himself walking in darkness. The following verse, verse 11, is a warning to every person who might think the way to deal with the darkness is to create their own light.
The worst mistake a person can make in the valley of darkness is to turn within himself for the answers. To trust in our own wisdom, or ungodly counsel is a tragic and potentially deadly error. Sure, we all want out of the valley, but to turn from the path of obedience is to turn down a trail of trouble. To trust our own wisdom and to follow our own path is to distrust God’s wisdom and disrespect His person. It will only lead to lying “down in torment.”
Keep on following the Lord. Trust Him and rely upon His wisdom. He knows exactly what He is doing and where He is taking you. You can walk through “the valley of the shadow of death” and “fear no evil” when you know that He is with you. So keep on trusting, obeying and walking with Jesus!
