We Can Come

Scripture Reading: I John 4

God is love

Love is not only the basis for God’s redemptive work, it is the basis for our approach to Him. If all we knew of God was that He is holy, just, and righteous; we would shrink away in fear. When we learn that God is love we feel we can approach Him and find that He will have compassion on us. It is not that God is not those other things, He is. It is not that those other attributes of God don’t play into our redemption. They do. I’m speaking here only of how we perceive our ability to come before Him for mercy. It is His love that gives us the sense that we can come and find mercy and grace.
