What Remains
is love
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 13
Faith and hope are beautiful gifts of God to those who possess them. Paul was a preacher of faith. Yet even Paul recognized that faith and hope are temporary placeholders. They will give way, one day, to sight. We now believe in Him whom we have not seen. We now live with the sure expectation of better days to come. Words fail me, for to call them “better days” is one of the greatest understatements of human history. Paul said “They are not worthy to be compared to the glory…”
And then…we shall behold Him. We shall see Him face-to-face. All that we had hoped for will be realized. Whatever you thought it would be…it will be much better. Faith and hope will give way to sight and reality. And then what?
What remains is love. “Love never ends.” In this triumvirate of the Christian life – faith, hope, and love – the greatest of the three is love.
