What Shall I do with Jesus?
Scripture Reading: Matthew 27:22
Pilate asks the crowd, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called the Christ?”
Of course, he was asking in a judicial and political sense, and not in a spiritual and personal way. Nevertheless, these things can’t completely be separated. Even though Pilate was only trying to figure out the fate of Jesus, on a deeper level he was wrestling with his own fate.
It is there is his question. “Jesus who is called the Christ.” Jesus (meaning “Jehovah saves”) is called the Messiah. He was tacitly acknowledging that there was a deeper question before him than the obvious political one. Is this man the Messiah and Savior? If he is, what was Pilate supposed to do with that knowledge?
In asking this question, Pilate was asking the question all of us need to ask ourselves. “What shall I do with Jesus who is called the Christ?”
I do pray your answer that you have believed upon Him. For if we believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ, we shall be saved.
