Who is for God?

Scripture Reading: Joshua 5:13-15

Joshua saw things as having only two possible explanations; the Man with the sword drawn was on their side or the side of their enemies. The Lord quickly disabused Joshua of this idea. “No; but I am the commander of the army of the LORD. Now I have come.”

Israel’s battles were not their own for which they were claiming divine sanction. This was, instead, the Lord’s battle in which he enlisted Israel as his army.

The question is never “Is God on our side?” The question is always, “Are we with God?”
