Who Saves?
Scripture Reading: Exodus 33-34; Matthew 24; Psalm 33
Where do you place your hope? In strength, strategy, or self-sufficiency? The Scriptures remind us today that salvation belongs to the Lord alone.
Psalm 33 warns against trusting in human power:
"The king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength... Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield." (Psalm 33:16, 20)
This theme is echoed in Exodus. Israel was not saved by its own efforts but by God's power. At the Red Sea, they were told to stand still and see the salvation of the LORD (Exodus 14:13). Their deliverance was entirely in His hands.
Then, in Matthew 24, Jesus speaks of His second coming. No earthly leader, military force, or human plan will bring about ultimate salvation—only Christ’s return will set things right. As believers, we look forward with hope, praying:
“Maranatha! Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” (Revelation 22:20)
Today, let this be our focus: not in earthly powers or personal strength, but in the one true Savior.
Look unto Jesus. He alone is our salvation.
